Halfstep Privacy Policy

The short version

Halfstep does not collect, sell or share your personal data. Your habits, notes and moods stay on your phone.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter in Halfstep (habits, tasks, check-ins, notes, moods and settings) is saved only on your device. We have no servers and no accounts, so we cannot see it.

No tracking, no ads

Halfstep has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. We do not use cookies or advertising IDs.

Reminders

Reminders are scheduled by your phone. Halfstep only asks for permission to send notifications when you turn on a reminder.

Calendar

If you turn on "Show calendar events" on the timeline, Halfstep asks for permission to read your phone's calendar. It reads your events only to show them on your timeline while you look at it. Halfstep never changes your calendar, does not save your events and does not send them anywhere. You can turn the feature off in Halfstep, or remove the permission at any time in your phone's settings.

Photos and camera

If you add a photo to a daily note, Halfstep asks for permission to use your camera or to pick a photo from your library, only at that moment. The photo is saved inside Halfstep on your phone and is never uploaded or shared. You can delete a photo in the note, and you can remove these permissions at any time in your phone's settings.

Home screen widget and notifications

The Halfstep widget and the "Today in your notifications" option show your habit names on your home screen or lock screen. This information stays on your phone. You can remove the widget or turn off the option at any time.

Face ID, Touch ID and fingerprint

If you turn on the app lock, your phone checks your face or fingerprint (Face ID or Touch ID on iPhone). Halfstep never sees or stores this information.

Backups and exports

When you create a backup or export a file, the file goes only where you choose to send or save it.

Purchases

Halfstep Pro is sold through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles your payment. We never receive your payment details.

Children

Halfstep does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Deleting your data

Delete habits in the app, or delete the app to remove all of its data from your device.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update it here and in the store listing.
